Exploiting observations and measurement data standard for distributed LTER-Italy freshwater sites. Water quality issues
نویسندگان
چکیده
Water quality is a multi-source, multi-purpose problem that needs exploiting observations, often taken by a number of heterogeneous bodies. This problem has been tackled within the Italian Long Term Ecological research network (LTER-Italy) in an experiment aimed at testing how ecological observations of mountain lakes water can be shared by OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standard services of the Sensor Web Enablement (SWE) initiative. A friendly and easy implementation of these services is fostered by the usage of the open source software Geoinformation Enabling Toolkit StarterKit ® (GET-IT 1 ). It has been used in the experiment to create SOS services, upload observations and create SensorML metadata of the involved sensors. This contribution describes the experiment and presents its results.

A floating cage system for rearing freshwater mussels Anodonta anatina and Unio mancus in Piedmont region (NW Italy)
This research represents the first attempt in Italy to develop a cage system for adult freshwater mussel stocking, for extensive farming, that was realized from 2003 to 2005 in NW Italy. Two autochthonous species of Italian freshwater mussel were used: Anodonta anatina and Unio mancus. 5133 mussels were collected and successively stocked in floating cages in 5 different sites in a lake. This st...

متن کاملThe impact of climatic factors on bacterial indicators of freshwater quality
Most of microbial pathogens present in natural waters are of fecal origin. Thus detection of fecal contamination is the main aim of water quality monitoring. Routine bacterial indicators of fecal contamination are: the coliforms, fecal coliforms, fecal streptococci, Clostridium spp and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The present study aimed to determine the impacts of climatic factors on concentrations...
متن کاملMicrobial Quality Investigation of Swimming Beaches in Mahmoudabad, Iran 2019
Background and purpose: Contamination of swimming beaches in north of Iran has caused environmental problems in recent years. Mahmoudabad is exposed to these dangers due to having the longest coastline in the country. The aim of this study was to determine microbial water quality of swimming beaches in Mahmoudabad. Materials and methods: In a descriptive-analytical study, we analyzed microbia...
متن کاملSurface Water Quality Monitoring Site Optimization for Poyang Lake, the Largest Freshwater Lake in China
In this paper, we propose a coupled method to optimize the surface water quality monitoring sites for a huge freshwater lake based on field investigations, mathematical analysis, and numerical simulation tests. Poyang Lake, the largest freshwater lake in China, was selected as the research area. Based on the field investigated water quality data in the 5 years from 2008 to 2012, the water quali...
